Winter sometimes seems like the longest season of the year. To help you get to Spring, we rounded-up five ways of how to beat the Winter Blues.

Meditate

  • Set up the right environment where you will be warm, calm and cozy
  • Use guided meditations to help you with specific issues, like low mood and anxiety; theyโ€™ll provide breathing exercises and mindfulness techniques
  • Consistency is key in meditation; the more you practice, the better you feel over time – and it can be as quick as 10 minutes a day!

Keep up a sleep routine

  • Go to sleep and wake up at the same time every day
  • Limit screen time in the evening, read a book instead
  • Light up soft lamps and candles instead of overhead lights
  • Avoid caffeine after 4pm and late-night eating
  • Expose yourself to light as soon as you wake up

Exercise

  • Start slowly and build up the amount of time you exercise
  • Try different types of exercise from strength training to cardio and yoga, 3 to 5 days a week
  • Exercise in the morning for a mood-boost, if possible
  • If unmotivated, try the 10x10x10 plan with 10 minutes of exercise in the morning, early afternoon and before the sun sets

Seek out the light

  • Try going outside for 15 minutes every day the sun is out, preferably in the morning
  • Move your chair or working station next to a window that gets sunlight
  • Include sunlight in your routine, like exercising and having lunch outside, for example

Get creative

  • Think about something you would like to do or know and never tried
  • Get hands-on in the kitchen by baking a loaf of bread, cookies, brownies, a cake, or experimenting with a new recipe
  • Learn something new, like a language or how to play an instrument
  • Tap into your creative side and explore a new hobby, such as crocheting, knitting, painting, or ceramics
