FREE CPD Opportunities for Midlothian Professionals
MYPAS has been commissioned to provide a second version of the Positive Approaches to Risk handbook. This will involve adding in new content and updating sections to reflect current risk taking behaviour trends relevant to Midlothian’s young people. We are delivering a series of 5 webinars to accompany the new version of the handbook focusing on the main themes of the book, allowing professionals to refresh their knowledge and/or those who are who are new in posts working in Midlothian with children and young people.
MYPAS and partner agencies are running a suite free webinars (hosted through MS Teams) suited for all Midlothian professionals working with children and young people around positively supporting and tackling risk taking behaviours.
Our first webinar will be held on Thursday, 16th May 3pm-5pm online. Introduction to the Teenage Brain – A Positive Approach to Risk Taking. This webinar will cover both psycho-social development and neurological changes that are crucial to supporting our teenagers.

Positive Approaches to Risk background:
In October 2020, partners across Midlothian, including Midlothian Council, NHS Lothian and the Third Sector, launched the first edition of Positive Approaches to Risk, a handbook containing guidance for those working with young people and a positive approach to risk taking behaviours. MYPAS in conjunction with partner agencies delivered a series of well attended and well received issue-based webinars based on the handbook. You can access version 1 of the handbook here: https://www.midlothian.gov.uk/download/downloads/id/4060/positive_approaches_to_risk.pdf
